I’d be your PUNk ROcK PRINCeSS

{January 6, 2008}   Referencing?

Here’s a very interesting referencing I’ve found lately…I’m sure people already know it but worth a try…

so there’s this band Jimmy Eat World whom people mistakenly call punk rock which they are not therefore not my favorite type anyway there’s this song called “For me this is heaven”

it starts with

When the first star you see may not be a star

The first star I see may not be a star.
We can’t do a thing but wait.
So let’s wait for one more.

Nice enough eeh? The song isn’t that good though

Now here comes my one of my most favorites songs ever…konstantine…don’t even ask by whom..God…everyone knows Something Corporate

The unforgettable lines

This is for Jimmy eat world and the nights in my car

When the first star you see may not be a star

I’m not your star…isn’t that what you said?

What you thought this all meant?

Got it? They are referring Jimmy Eat World!!! Wow….personally I’m still not sure why would Andrew link this song in particular but come to think of it maybe something personal knows who…but still Jimmy Eat World?

I’m not done yet…here’s another of my recent top favorite Amber Pacific and there song Poetically Pathetic

I’m thinking of the words to say,I’d like to think that this was fate.Reference to a song you love, Spell confusion with a “K”Like a star without its strings, I’m hanging here on these two wings. For that smile and those eyes

I’m falling

So much for stars lately…LOL…

But the links are interesting aint they? Maybe someday someone will write a song referring Poetically Pathetic…LOL

{December 5, 2007}   These days

Here’s little something about the bands I’ve come across these days. By “ome accorss”I jusut mean somehow I got the whole discography…. Lol .. guess how …. anyway here they are

1.      Billy Talent, Reel Big Fish, Sugercult, Beatsteaks : okay here’s one for 80’s punk type music which is not really my type though I always try them.I mean its between me and my love for punk name me any punk band no matter what I’ll try them. But what I feel is a lot of high pitching voice is unmelodious and sometimes bit annoying. Seriously I’m highly disappointed…I deleted all the stuff. Some one GB if you ask me…

2.      Further Seems Forever, Dashboard Confessional: I had these two songs of dashboard confessional, vindicated which is my all time favorite, and as lovers go. So I decided to give it a try. And you cant really think of dashboard confessional without further seems forever right that’s what they all say so I got them both. But I’m not very sure what to say, I haven’t tried all the songs yet partly because I didn’t like them partly because I had other stuff to do. I  heard a lot about them, I heard they are all emo and all and loved by emo and a very self destructive I have some fetish for self hatred music but they seems very slow yeah catchy lyrics but I repeat slow and I don’t like slow music.

3.      Thrice: Another emo band. I loved the song stare into the sun it’s always my favorite to play when I’m on high self hatred mode. But none of the other song was even close to it. They were like a lot like metal, a bit like screamo and too fast for me. Honestly all too slow and too fast stuff I started to feel I should stop trying new music listening to other people.

4.      The honorary title: Everything I once had is one of my most farvote track when I feel down which I have been feeling a lot these days. So I thought I should get the rest of them so I did including some EPs and I tried all the songs atleast once but none of them were even close to the track. Yet its for my love for the track I haven’t deleted any of the other songs, I’ll try them once more before the final decision.

5.      The Juliana Theory: here’s to another indie band. Every time I decide I’m not gonna try another indie band somehow I find myself to expect I’ll get something good but they cant really meet my expectation. Its not the lyrics, its not the vocals all the indie bands more or less rocks in these areas but the tunes somehow gets boring, repetitive  and not catchy at all. Anyway I liked one or two songs because they had a bit faster rhythm but all in all nothing special

6.      Spitalfield : I don’t know what they are, they didn’t sound like indie or rock or pop punk which last.fm are telling me. A bit like alternative if you ask me. I got just two albums not the whole discography. And I liked only one song. But thing is, this song, Novocaine …I loved it a lot. So I don’t really care that I didn’t like anything else, it was worth it. The song perfectly matches with my current condition (off the track, I’m having a super super super impossible crush on a super super super cute and sweet and nice guy only its one-sided sigh). This song is liked played most in my playlist for last 2-3 weeks along with iris and some other sad-romantic songs which are not really my type. Normally I love I-hate-it-all-and-don’t-give-a-shit type songs…anyway going offtrack again. I just cant get the song out of my mind, though I’m feeling a lot shitty because there’s no way I can see this whole crush thing can work out, I can relate the song a lot to my life

Just a pinch of novacaine

If you wont be

The one to ease my name

Just say my name

Sweet Sweet Novocaine… this one goes for L**….he has been really sweet to me, I don’t really deserve it, but it’s so hard to admit and realize…

7.      Midtown: Here’s some decent punk rock. Okay maybe they are not the best really they are really something and after all those disappointing music they were like blessings to me. I loved the kick ass lyrics, the typical punk rock vocal, the catchy tunes and beats and specially the attitude. I couldn’t believe I have never tried them before…God I owe a lot to last.fm recommendations.

8.      The Hush Sound: Indie rock? What the hell is that? That’s exactly the question that came to my mind when I found out about them first and just to find the question to that answer I tried to collect some of their stuff. Okay I don’t really know what to say, its not really bad, it’s a bit like piano rock, reminds me some of the something corporate songs though I’m not comparing don’t get me all wrong SOCO are like Gods to me. I was just telling that even though I didn’t really like the Hush Sound Stuff I haven’t really tried them yet. Because I want to listen to all of them one more time when I’m feeling a bit more content.

9.      Hit The Lights: I liked them. End of the story. Once again another typical punk rock band they are labeled pop punk but I don’t like the word “pop” in the first place so I’m not even going there. I liked them because as with any pop punk music even though they are full of hatred and stuff they are highly uplifting not in a normal way but hey it works for me

10.  Forgive Durden: I haven’t really tried them all, bit busy this days. But the ones I tried a bit didn’t sound boring if nothing else. So yeah maybe I’ll update the entry after I try them.

11.  Cobra Starship: okay I didn’t like the name I don’t know why. I didn’t like the album cover I know why. But I liked the music. Apart from the thing that most of the songs were my type of punk rock there were some deep stuff reminded me of alternative and the song I loved most is one of them.

We’re too young

I hate to love you

The night sky

Hangs above you

But you can’t be missed

If you never go away

12.  As Tall As Lions: After trying the first album, the self titled, I decided I’m not gonna try the other two albums and delete them right away. Honestly they sound totally indie and totally repetitive and totally everything I hate. But basically I had nothing to do I go through the albums Blood and Aphorisms and Lafcadio and thanks heaven I did. I was almost shocked how good they are. They are like totally changed from slow sad type music to semi aggressive a lot catchy type. Its almost like the transformation from indie to rock and you know what I’m gonna like them.

13.  Amber Pacific: I wanted to mention them at last. All these bands I’ve got these days, they are like the best discoveries. I am so glad I found them. I don’t care if they are lebeled pop punk I’ll call them somewhere between punk and alternative. I almost loved all the songs. The voice are superb. The lyrics are not much of a aggressive bit deep but a lot thought provoking. The tunes are like always changing so no chance of getting bored. Seriously I can see they are climbing the places in my playlist.

And if you ever doubt
You will know that I still wonder
How many times that I’ve compared
The stars to your eyes

God if only I were in love….I so want to be…with him…..will we make it though?
